Art Therapy #20

Hey we are back! This is where Rae and Nancy send each other postcards. We were weekly, but we are a bit, ok a lot more random right now. Nancy, of the traveling shoes, has landed and I was delighted to get a card from her. Hopefully we will get back to weekly postcards. So satisfying to get art and the written word in the mail.

An excerpt from the book that Nancy is writing.

These 2 images are from Nancy’s Naked People 2019 calendar. These 2 are among my favorites.

I have Christmas in my head. Christmas or Winter fabric. Also I need to do a series of NOLA (New Orleans) fabric because it is in my head begging to get out.

This is a current entry in Minted’s sympathy card challenge. I like it because it is not the usual flowery sympathy card. Maybe it is too different.

I feel a need to change my style… or really expand my style. Over the Winter I am going to spend time with watercolors, colored pencils and Procreate on my seriously underused iPad. Plan to put a movie or music on and draw. I am also taking Jenna Kutcher’s Instagram Class with is packed with good info.

As Winter progress I hope you are all snuggled in. Christmas is almost here.

Art Therapy #19

As you know this is where Nancy and I send art postcards to each other.

These 2 cards are mine. Both are entries into the Minted/Target contest. I like them both but I really like the first one. I really like the shapes and color palette. Always hoping for a win.

I really like these 2 postcards of Nancy's. As usual interesting and thoughtful. Love her poem too.

We have been doing this since after the election. I think Nancy is putting on her traveling shoes. There is a possibility that this may be the last post for a while. No matter what it has been a good ride.

Save a Date Challenge on Minted

The Save a Date challenge just closed this Tuesday and it appears there is a very short voting period. Voting closes noon Tuesday Central Time. The above Save a Date is as minimal as they get. And what I would use if I was getting married.

This one is certainly fun and young. Or young at heart. I like the mix of some of my doodles and good typography. I like just that tiny bit of red.

Really like the tight cropping on this one and all the copy in the circle. Clean and contemporary.

Fun and funky type. Lost of space for your horizontal photo.

Perfect for a Fall or Winter wedding date. Or use it year round if you live where pine is everywhere.

Thanks to any of you who vote. It is best to use the links in this post, then you go right to the card.

If you vote for mine plz vote for some others. Lots of talent there. And Minted doesn't like it if you just vote for me.

Minted Holiday Gift Giving voting has started...

Thanks for all who are following me on Minted. I won with my New Year's card! All very exciting for this newbie. Below are my latest entries. Take a peek and vote if you would like.

Lots in this challenge because it included note cards, notebooks and wrapping paper. I like this note card because it uses my Rae's Monogram font.

Screen Shot 2017-09-04 at 12.31.46 AM.png

My note cards are simple because I like to write on simple cards. I guess I design for myself.

I like these one sided note cards because it is so easy to just drop a short note to someone. Great for thank you notes.

Personalized notebooks are in this challenge. This one would be great as a gardening journal or everyday use.

Fresh, fun and floral. These notebooks are all personalized.

Love these nail polish bottles and want those colors...

Last, but not least, wrapping paper. A little bit of pine.

This is my personal favorite, an all occasion paper in soft colors.

If you feel like voting that would be great. If you do plz vote for some others too. As usual, lots of great work there.

Festive Holiday Party Invitation voting...

Another week, another Challenge just opened up and voting on Party Invitations. For any of you who missed it I WON for the first time with 3 Christmas cards. Wilderness Christmas, Merry, Merry Christmas...Tree and Contemporary Ornaments! I am delighted and just uploaded my finished art for those.

Here are my entries into the Party Invitation Challenge.  I did 2 New Year's Eve designs. Here is this one.

And an Annual Party. Copy can be changed for whatever kind of party you want.

Holiday Open House, again copy can be changed for your event.

I think this one is my favorite... Ring in 2018! If you are so inclined, you can vote until noon on August 30th. If you do I truly appreciate it. And also plz spread a little voting love around. They are many good ones in this challenge.

I think I am out of order here on postcards. But I've done some desk cleaning and these have surfaced. These baby bears are a fabric design for Minted's fabric contest that ends today. Couldn't you see sweet bedding with these little bears on it?

In the same Fabric Frenzy Challenge I did 3 Man Cave fabric designs. This one comes with a coordinating check fabric.

A place I feel like I have been to, but know I have not. The sepia photo makes me think of my grandparent's day... of rustic cabins 'up north'. Lakes without vacation homes. Quiet. Where men went to hunt, and maybe some women too.

Background shot is the modern day lake front in sunny bright color. not far down our shore.

It appears Nancy and I are both trying to get back to watercolor again. Such a difficult medium. I am really looking forward to my watercolor class next month.

Plz vote for Rae... again.

Thank you to all who voted for my Christmas cards on Minted. They have not yet announced the winners in that category. Fingers are crossed.

I did one entry for the New Year's Photo challenge. And I am pleased with it.

If you have a minute I would love it and really appreciate it if you would vote for me. If you voted last time it will be easy because you already signed up on Minted.

Just go here and hopefully give me a 5!

You can also "like" it, but the 5 is the important thing.

Big thanks!

Plz vote for Rae.

I hate to ever ask anyone to vote for me in anything.

But things have changed in the last few years with how we buy things... Netfix, Amazon, iTunes for movies, music, books and pretty much everything else. Buying fonts has also changed. Now there are discount places where you can buy a $1500 bundle of fonts for $39. I can't compete with that.

So I am trying to break into Minted. Minted is a website that has Challenges, which are really Contests, which is really Spec Work. Artists create art based on the current challenge and people vote.

If you do not win you get nothing. I you do win it can be profitable and then you get your own store.

Here are my entries for the latest Christmas Challenge.

Wilderness Christmas from Minted
Wilderness Christmas on Minted

Wilderness Christmas will be offered in both color ways.

Contemporary Ornaments

Contemporary Ornaments with a retro feel.

Merry, Merry, Christmas... Tree

These 4 Holiday cards all use my doodle font illustrations with a few extras drawn and tossed in.

Watercolor Tree on Minted

A water color tree with Outside the LIne fonts.

Brush Stroke Wreath for Minted

This one is probably a bit out there, but I am trying to find my Minted style.

So, if any of you have the time and energy to vote that would be great. If not I completely understand. We are all too busy.

If you do... 1. Click on a link. It will first make you sign up on Minted. (Sorry)
2. Go back to this post and click on the individual links to vote.
