gallery nite... and open art studios...

Time for another Gallery Nite! It is one of the things I really love about Madison. This is a twice-a-year event and is happening on Friday, October 1 from 5-9PM. It is also free. You can go and wander thought galleries, businesses and other spaces that showcase local artists. Be organized as there is more than you can possibly see. It is sponsored by the Madison Museum of Contemporary Art. Go here for the list of the 65 venues.

AND... Saturday and Sunday October 2 & 3 from 11AM to 4PM is an annual tour of artist's studios sponsored by Madison Area Open Art Studios. You can chat with the artists and see where they work. I love seeing where other artists work. For more info go here. The Open Art Studios starts with an exhibit at the Overture Center in downtown Madison. Each of the artists participating in the tour will have a sample of their work displayed. The exhibit will be in all three galleries located off the Rotunda Lobby. Open Art Studio maps will be available there.

So a full weekend of art... something for everyone. For me it will be complete visual overload. And then there is the Wisconsin Book Festival. So much to do, so little time.
